What is your current career stage and what can help you unlock your next level?
After working in real estate developments in Canada, I joined my father a little over a year ago in Dubai to work alongside him to develop our own projects. Since then, I have been steering the direction of our work towards boutique residential projects with an emphasis on architecture and design. I feel there is a large gap for this market segment in Dubai, where most projects are focussed on bottom line profits, instead of long-term sustainability and adding non-tangible value to the city.
Becoming a member of 1883, I feel, would help me connect with local creatives and designers whom we could work alongside, or at least become inspired by. Together, we could help build more conscious spaces that are designed around their inhabitants and increase their general quality of life.
Why would you want to join 1833/١٨٣٣?
Joining 1833 would serve as a critical bridge that connects me with a vibrant community of designers and creatives. Their insights are integral to achieving this vision for Dubai’s real estate landscape, as I feel they have their finger on the pulse for the direction that needs to be taken. This would provide a collaborative platform for building projects that prioritize long-term value and quality of life for their inhabitants. I believe we can collectively contribute to improving Dubai into a city that reflects thoughtful architectural and design principles that enhance the community's overall well-being that remain deeply integrated within the city’s fabric. Being in a community that discusses and debates these issues could jumpstart a paradigm shift that also inspires others to do the same.
Other than professional synergies, 1833 would also play a role in fueling my passion for photography. I find that I am most able to produce work when being surrounded by other creatives that inspire me, and being part of a community that celebrates creativity and innovation would continually inspire my photography. This could also help me explore new narratives in photography that are more relevant to local styles and issues. I also hope to be able to inspire others’ in their photography, as that would be the ultimate privilege.
What are your creative interests? How do you spend your free time?
Photography. This is something that I have been interested in since my early teens, but it has morphed into various different things throughout the years. From photographing school events, to being the unofficial photographer of friend’s trips, to now more focussed on documentary style street photography. It has honed my ability to see the world around me more keenly, while also helping to tell a story – or preserve one.
