What is your current career stage and what can help you unlock your next level?
I’ve been working independently and on project bases for the past few years, with focus on adding value to the creative community through engaging programming. I believe 1833 can help me meet the right people that will help me grow my network, landing more meaningful projects, and add beauty to my daily life.
Why would you want to join 1833/١٨٣٣?
I’ve seen 1833 develop from day one, and it’s been exciting. I want to become a member because I believe in the power of this imagined creative community that we are all part of. The type of people that 1833 is bringing together have been marginalized and underrepresented, not really given the opportunity to shine. Cultivating an ego-free community will help us all rise as a collective by encouraging dialogue, collaborations, and the space to roam freely as we are. I would bring myself wholeheartedly to the front and be my most authentic self. I believe that if we all do that, we will all add value to the community, and release ourselves from the gate-keeping era, into an era that is more inclusive and collaborative. I’m also funny. But also, I can help moderate conversations, help host events, and be a cheerleader for my peeps.
What are your creative interests? How do you spend your free time?
I’ve been immersed in the creative sector, mainly in Bahrain, for the past 10 years. I’ve managed multiple community-led galleries and spaces, and have been involved in multiple cultural projects. I’m also emerging as an artist, focusing on needlework and fibers. I’m passionate about design and art and its impact on our daily lives. I spend most of my free time working on my craft or attending galleries, cultural initiatives, and talks.
