Questions

What is your current career stage and what can help you unlock your next level?
At the moment, I am very excited about transitioning further into my career in consulting and potentially government; however, long-term besides my career, I see myself (hopefully) beginning my art collection of Emirati, Palestinian and Egyptian art - a testament to my cultures and identities. Ideally, travel, and as simple as it sounds, it perfectly aligns with my morals and my passions. While the cliche advantages of travel are quite beneficial, I believe that the experiences you garner with the people you travel with, the way you can pick the brains of those you meet on your adventures, and understanding the differential likes of others. I have been making it a point since I was fifteen to buy art, no matter how small or large, from any city I visit, but, as I look at that transition, I want to expand the portfolio of art I collect.
Why would you want to join 1833/١٨٣٣?
What are your creative interests? How do you spend your free time?
On the side of work and studies (& the ritual padel), I run a Middle-Eastern-based think tank for students in university to write about the arts, philosophy, history and society in our region. I grew up in a (large) family of financiers, politicians and lawyers, and the breadth of our exposure to the arts was quite limited. But, my grandmother, Azza, taught me oil and acrylic painting at the age of seven, and since then has been my favourite pastime. However, I have also come to appreciate the little details in their conversations, and that creativity is not limited to just artists, but to people in all fields, regardless of our own individual definitions of the arts. Though, non-tangible, what I enjoy most is the conversations I have with the new people I meet, a personal initiative I have been building, to expand the breadths of my discussions, understanding the need for diversification conversationally. I believe in individualism, but also the need for community in individualism; for people to support you through your thick and thins - so, basically, one of my favourite interests is sitting, walking, painting and talking.
