Safeya Sharif is an Emirati artist whose practice moves across drawing,
printmaking, painting, and sculpture. Her work explores space and spatial perception through
abstraction and structural forms, examining how familiar elements can be fragmented,
reconfigured, and translated across different materials and processes. Drawing from an evolving
visual language, Sharif revisits elements from previous works, allowing them to develop into
new forms through different approaches and executions.

Material plays a central role in her investigation of form and space. Through sculptural
interventions, frames and structural elements become part of the work rather than simply
functioning as supports. Her paintings explore relationships between color, form, and space
through layering, repetition, and fragmentation. Works on paper extend these investigations
through studies of surface and pressure.

Rather than following a fixed narrative, Sharif’s practice develops through an ongoing exchange
between works, where forms and ideas are revisited, adapted, and carried forward. Her work
invites viewers to reconsider their relationship to space, creating moments where familiar
structures take on unexpected forms.

Nadine Khoury is a Dubai-based art advisor, curator, and writer. Of Palestinian and Syrian heritage, she grew up moving between the Gulf and North America, an experience that deeply shaped her cross-cultural perspective and approach to the arts.

Her career began in gallery management across Canada, New York, and Dubai, followed by experience at Christie’s auction house and a senior curatorial role at one of the region’s leading art consultancies. These positions allowed her to work closely with artists, collectors, and institutions, developing a nuanced understanding of both the cultural and market dimensions of contemporary art.

Today, Nadine brings this experience together throughNasij, a platform she founded to educate, guide, and nurture a new generation of art collectors and enthusiasts, with a particular focus on Arab and regional art.

About
I Am
We’re launching a new program that puts regional artists at the center, monthly studio visits, real conversations, and work experienced in the spaces it was created for.We start this January with a day trip to Al Ain: a traditional lunch, followed by a screening in Qattara Oasis. The short film by Roudhah Al Mazrouei, Klaithem Aljabri, and Alawash pulls you into the world of snaah, the red paste made from saffron, mahlep, and rosewater that shaped generations of girlhood and beauty rituals. Honest, textured, and rooted in the women who kept these traditions alive. Culture as it’s lived, not staged.‍
