What happens when you build something that doesn’t have a blueprint?
At 21, Eli Rezkallah launched Plastik Magazine in Beirut, creating a platform for visual culture in a place with little infrastructure to support it. Fifteen years later, his work spans photography, publishing, commercial image-making, art and creative direction, moving between Beirut and New York and challenging how we think about glamour, identity and representation.
For 1833 On/Off The Record, Eli joins us for a candid conversation about building a vision from scratch, being first, the realities behind the work, and what happens when your creative practice becomes a business. We’ll get into the choices, compromises, mistakes and lessons along the way, before going a little deeper, off the record, into the parts of the industry that don’t usually make it into the picture.
